About Paddock On Crown

Paddock On Crown is one of those easygoing spots you end up recommending to friends the moment they mention brunch, coffee, or a relaxed bite in Surry Hills. Located at 509 Crown St, right in the middle of one of Sydney’s most creative neighbourhoods, this cafe has a welcoming feel that makes it work just as well for a quiet solo coffee as it does for catching up with friends. From the moment you arrive, the vibe leans casual and comfortable, with a setup that invites you to settle in rather than rush out. Outdoor seating is a big draw here, especially on sunny days when Crown Street is buzzing, although the indoor space keeps things just as warm and laid-back. Paddock On Crown is the kind of place where service options actually fit different lifestyles, so whether you feel like dining in, grabbing takeaway on the go, ordering delivery, or simply enjoying a quick bite, it all feels easy and unforced. The menu reflects that same flexible attitude, mixing quality coffee with healthy options that don’t feel boring, while still leaving room for indulgence when the mood strikes. Coffee is clearly taken seriously, but it never overshadows the food, which balances freshness with flavour in a way that suits both early mornings and slow afternoons. As the day moves on, the offerings expand naturally, with beer, wine, and other alcohol options making it a comfortable spot to ease into the evening without switching venues. What really stands out about Paddock On Crown is how effortlessly it fits into the local rhythm of Surry Hills, feeling familiar even on a first visit. It doesn’t try too hard to impress, yet it consistently delivers a relaxed cafe experience that feels genuine, approachable, and very much part of the neighbourhood.

The long-standing brunch at Surryhills has always been very famous. The bacon, fried chicken and waffles are really great. I recommend everyone to try them! Pancake is also a dessert that I like very much. It looks good and tastes good.

Very popular brunch place in Surry Hills ! I have been visiting for many years. King prawns pasta is a must try in their new menu and signature pancakes are always good choice for sweet tooth.

Been a fan of their classic brunch for years. Love their pancakes and pasta, plus the atmosphere is great and service is always friendly. It’s also a treat seeing other customers bring their dogs — so adorable!

This is the kind of cafe you might easily miss when walking by. I discovered it thanks to the many positive reviews on Xiaohongshu. It wasn't too crowded when I went on a Wednesday lunchtime. The staff were really attentive. Ordered the green egg smoked salmon, and it was surprisingly flavourful! The price felt reasonable for the area, too.

A classic Surry Hills brunch spot with a lovely rustic vibe! I highly recommend the Pappardelle Oxtail Ragu—it was incredibly tender and flavorful. The Pancakes were also fantastic, fluffy and perfect for sharing. Great coffee and friendly service. The perfect place to start a weekend in Sydney.

Absolutely amazing breakfast! The food was exceptionally good, beautifully presented, and full of flavour — it honestly reminded me of great French cuisine, simple, fresh, and done with care. The place has the perfect atmosphere: not too busy, just the right amount of people to truly enjoy a relaxed breakfast without feeling crowded. The staff were kind and smiling, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful start to the day — highly recommended!

Tried the new pasta dishes at Paddock on Crown and they were excellent, the creamy tomato prawn pasta was rich yet balanced, with perfectly cooked prawns. Relaxed atmosphere, great desserts, and no weekend surcharge makes it an easy brunch favourite.
